Mount Teide, the mountains of Anaga, Teresitas beach or the beaches of Costa Adeje are just some of the enchanting enclaves of Tenerife the British press longs for. Such is the case, that Anglo-Saxon media, such as ‘The Independent’, place the Island among the 10 best places in the world to visit in winter.

Tenerife is included in the prestigious list of destinations prepared by the aforementioned medium, in which it competes with other places very attractive to tourists, such as Cape Town (South Africa), Goa (India), Barbados, Cape Verde, Thailand, Costa Rica, Bali (Indonesia), Dominican Republic and Maldives.

“Take a cable car to the highest peak in Spain, the Teide, and go hiking in this glorious volcanic national park,” reads the text, which also highlights the majesty of Anaga and “its lush and green paths.” Another of the incentives that collects ‘The Independent’ is the temperature of the Island in January, since it is around 21 degrees Celsius.
“If you go in February, do not miss the Santa Cruz show,” the publication continues, referring to the Carnival of the capital of Tenerife.

“And if what you are looking for is action on the beach, drop by the sands of Playa de las Teresitas or the beaches of Costa Adeje,” he concludes.

Tenerife, Spain

Average January temperature: 21C

The largest of the Canary Islands is more than just a package-holiday bolthole for Brits. Take a cable car to Spain’s highest peak at Mount Teide and go hiking in this glorious volcanic national park. At the other end of the island are the equally impressive Anaga Mountains and their lush green hiking trails.

If you turn up in February, do not miss the spectacle of the Santa Cruz carnival. And if it’s beach action you’re looking for, flop on the sands at Playa de las Teresitas or the beaches at Costa Adeje.
